Film!!

The fun thing about having your own "business" is that if you're really not that serious about it yet you can pretty much do whatever you want until you are doing exactly what you want, how you want.  I haven't completely decided if I want to shoot film or digital or both, but right now I'm very much loving my drug store kodak 400 shots.

I've been metering in camera and then going a 1/2 or 1 stop up.  I tend to like slightly brighter photos and it's easier to fix an overexposed shot than an underexposed one.  This film is grainy, but it's inexpensive.  It picks up color really easily which is kind of cool and bad if you don't want a florescent glare on someones skin. :)

Anyway, take a look.  My 11 month old is my subject and composition hasn't been a priority (although I admit that I need to improve my composition dramatically), so bare with me as these are not the most amazing photos.  Also, I am happy to say that my rolls have mostly good shots!

Here are a few.

iPhone Sunset ~ Seattle

Who says that it never is sunny in Seattle in the winter?  Here is proof and I'm so glad I went out to enjoy it today.

I'm pretty much in love with my iPhone and it's awesome picture taking capabilities!

Once Upon A Time...

...I shot my first wedding!  Well, not my first ( I shot a few out of high school on film with my Canon AE-1), but my first that I'm proud of!  I learned so much on this shoot and since July I have been able to apply what I've learned, buy new gear, and decide that I do like to shoot weddings.  I still have a long ways to go and I want to play more with light, but for now these aren't half bad to me.

Anyway!  Here is the beautiful Kristel and the handsome Jason on their most special day ever!  Seriously, I had so much fun on this shoot and it was great to work with my friend Laurel and her awesome family!

In the meantime, here is another photo of my son from the snow.
He really wasn't into all of the snow right before his nap, so we'll have to try again next year.
And I love this one of him looking out of the window at allof the snow!  He's growing up too fast!

An official shoot of Asher!

I don't think I've posted an official shoot of Asher on this blog yet, so here is one we just did about 20 minutes ago in my room!  Love his budding personality and the SUNSHINE!

I love my kid- I heart faces

I should never choose to post photos of my own child on here because I can never choose just one photo!  So, here he is just being himself and playing.  I love it because he has no idea I am behind him snapping photos and you can see in his reflection that he's just looking intently at himself...so adorable!  He's doing what he loves and I caught it!  Nothing staged just what we do.

I Heart Faces~Sun Flares!

I love making good sun flare photos!  This is one of my favorites for a few reasons:
1.  It takes a bit a skill to get it right.  Auto Focus doesn't work with the sun shinning in my lens, so I manually focused.
2.  I got to use my 50mm (he's been neglected since my new lens came along).
3.  To get the flare right I placed her in the center of the photo.  I know, not so visually interesting, but the the flares give the photo some interest.
4.  My senior is just super pretty and was a lot of fun!
